Cooper United Methodist Church closing

Final worship service Sunday, May 28

A recommendation was approved last month at a special church conference to close the Cooper United Methodist Church, which was founded in 1891.

All current and past members, as well as friends of the Cooper United Methodist Church, are invited to the final worship service Sunday, May 28, at 10:30 am. The final worship service will include singing the congregation’s favorite hymns, hearing from former pastors, taking communion together one last time, and a time for sharing favorite memories. The service will include a celebration of 121 years of Christmas Eve services, also.

After the service or at 12 pm, there will be a light lunch at the Jamaica Community Center. All are invited to bring a favorite dessert to share.

The church will open one hour prior to the service for photos and visiting in the sanctuary.

Those who plan to attend the final worship service and/or luncheon are asked to RSVP by May 20 by clicking here. Persons who want more information can contact Karin Lawton Dunn at CooperChurchMemories@gmail.com.

The Franklin Township Memorial Day service will be held Monday, May 29, at 11 am at the cemetery.
